Herndon Youth Soccer's Hurricanes Black team (shown above) finished as Finalists in the U15 Championship at the prestigious OBGC Capital Cup over Labor Day weekend. The thrilling title match was decided on penalty kicks in white-knuckle fashion after the Hurricanes and their rivals, the BRYC Elite Academy ECNL U15 team, remained even during regular play and overtime. The team is coached by Total Futbol Technical Director Todd Hamlin. 

Eight different teams coached by Total Futbol enjoyed success in five local preseason tournaments as they prepared for the busy Fall schedule of league, tournament and Virginia State Cup competitions. Taken together, these eight teams posted some eye-popping results, posting a W-D-L record of 39-1-8 over 48 games (an 81% win rate, no less), cumulatively scoring 173 goals (an average of 2.8 goals per game) and conceding 46 (an average of one per game). The final tally was eight Championship finishes, four Finalist finishes and one Semifinalist finish.

The Reston Cyclones were Finalists in the top Boys U16 division of the EDP Fall Kickoff Maryland Tournament (2-0-2; 9 goals for, 11 goals against) and Bracket A Champions of the Boys U17 Champions 2001-2002 division at Rush for the Cup (2-1-0; 14 goals for, 3 against). The team is coached by TF Director of Coaching Matt Lee and TF Director of Goalkeeping Chris Torres. 

 

Herndon Crush (shown above) pulverized every team in their path as they pounded their way through the Dulles National Soccer Tournament in August (4-0-0; 16 goals for, 1 against) and Rush for the Cup in September (4-0-0; 11 goals for, 2 against) to claim two Championship titles in two weekends. The team is coached by Tina Valente. 

 

Competing at the U12 level, Herndon Lightning Black was the youngest TF team to take the field during preseason, but they proved mighty. As you can see from their intense pre-game huddle above, they already understand the power of teamwork and communication. Coached by Total Futbol Executive Director Nadir Moumen and Programs Director Jimmy Brewer, they were Champions at Dulles National (4-0-0; 11 goals for, 1 against) and Finalists at the SYA August Cup (3-0-1; 15 goals for, 7 goals against).
