Jefferson Cup Brings Joy

The MSI Academy White Warriors 05 hoist the trophy they won in the Girls Under-14 Premier Orange division at the Jefferson Cup Girls Tournament Weekend March 16-17 in Richmond, Virginia.
The Jefferson Cup tournaments have long been a rite of Spring: first come the GU11-GU14 age groups in the Jefferson Cup Girls Tournament Weekend (March 16-17), followed by the GU15-GU19 age groups in the Jefferson Cup Girls Showcase Weekend. For the older age groups, hundreds of college soccer coaches converge on Richmond, VA, to observe competitive matches between teams that must apply to get in. The tournament accepts over 1,000 teams from around 36 states, but turns down an average of 500 teams per year. With an average of more than 150 State Cup Champions, over 10 Regional Champions and over five National Champions per year attending throughout the nine age groups, competition is fierce.
In 2018, the Jefferson Cup Girls Showcase Weekend was ranked the #3 overall youth tournament and the #2 girls youth tournament in the United States. The Jefferson Cup Girls Tournament Weekend was ranked the #1 overall youth tournament and the #1 girls youth tournament in the United States. Also in 2018, more than 430 Girls College Coaches attended the Showcase weekend, marking a record high.
In 2019, three teams coached by Total Futbol achieved impressive results in these prestigious competitions. In the first weekend, MSI Academy White Warriors 05 were Champions of the GU14 Premier Orange bracket after posting four consecutive wins. They scored 14 goals and conceded a miserly two across four games. Meanwhile, Herndon Eclipse 08 were Finalists in the GU11 Classic bracket, posting two wins and two losses. During the second weekend, McLean Youth Soccer's U17 ECNL team, coached by Total Futbol's Nadir Moumen, won the U17 Championship division, the highest bracket in the Showcase, by sweeping all three games.
Coached by TF's Nadir Moumen, the MSI Academy White Warriors 05 won all four games, scoring 14 goals and conceding just two.
Ready for your close-up? A few members of the Herndon Eclipse 08 team celebrate their strong showing in the U11 Classic bracket at the prestigious Jefferson Cup Girls Tournament Weekend. The squad lost in the Final by just one goal. The Eclipse are coached by TF's Ricky Ramirez.
McLean's U17 ECNL team, coached by TF's Nadir Moumen, won the 12-team Championship bracket at the Jefferson Cup Showcase Weekend on March 24.
