Aleigh Gambone Trains and Competes with the USWNT

Aleigh Gambone (#15 in front row on far left) earned a start with the U-18 U.S. Women's National Team (WNT) when they played the Australia U-19 WNT on July 11, 2017, in one of three international friendlies during a training camp in Canberra, Australia. The U.S. team went on to defeat the Socceroos 2-1.

Aleigh Gambone, a Clifton, Va., midfielder who plays Club soccer for McLean Youth Soccer's U18/U19 ECNL team and high school soccer for Centreville HS, received her first call-up to train with the U-18 United States women's National Team (USWNT) in April of 2017. She traveled to the Elite Athlete Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., for an April 15-22 camp with 23 other players born in 2000—a group intended to form the core of the team that will eventually attempt to qualify for the 2020 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.

In June, Aleigh was called up again for a training camp in Canberra, Australia, that saw the U-18 USWNT take on the U-19 Australian WNT twice and the U-20 Canadian WNT once. Gambone saw action in all three matches, starting the July 11 game against Australia.

From August 6-14, Gambone was tapped by U-18 USWNT head coach Jaime Frias for a training camp in Fairfax, Va., which in turn led to her inclusion in the U-19 USWNT squad chosen to represent the U.S. at the CFA International Women's Youth Football Tournament from Sept. 2-15 in Duyan, China. The CFA tourney also featured the U-20 WNTs of Iran, Japan and host country China PR. Gambone earned a start in the match against Iran on Sept. 14, a game the U.S. went on to win 5-0.

When she is not representing the USWNT, Gambone plays for McLean's U18/U19 team, coached by Total Futbol Director Nadir Moumen. A current high school junior, Gambone has verbally committed to play college soccer for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels, beginning in Fall 2019.

Aleigh Gambone (#13 near center of front row) earned a start with the U-19 USWNT when they played the U-20 Iran WNT on Sept. 14, 2017, and pulled out a 5-0 victory. The match completed a U.S. sweep of three international games in the CFA International Women's Youth Football Tournament.
