FORCE White’s offense came alive in their second game against Herndon Curve Black. Brynn Silva and Hannah Omilan set the early tone with great hustle on the field. It wasn’t long before Hannah intercepted a pass and put the ball in the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. Sophie Gross made the score 2-0 off a well-played corner kick from Sophia McCrosson and an assist from Avery Bracher. Curve Black scored a late goal but it wasn’t enough as FORCE White prevailed 2-1.
In the semi-finals, FORCE White faced a tough VYS Magic Red team. Kyra Corrado, Olivia Moumen, and Aleena Sengmany controlled the tempo of the game with great passing and midfield play that created scoring opportunities for Ava and Avery. A fantastic overall team FORCE White effort led to an exciting 2-1 semi-final victory.
In the tournament final, FORCE White squared off against undefeated FCV South County Green. Avery split two defenders to score a brilliant break-away goal giving FORCE White an early 1-0 lead. All of the girls played great soccer on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball, and Medha Mani was spectacular in goal. But in the end, FORCE White could not find an answer to South County Green’s physical style of play, and came up just short of winning the championship. Congratulations to the FORCE White girls and Coach Fadia Hawa for a great tournament!
